The Role

Situated on the beautiful Moray Coast in the North of Scotland, Gordonstoun is widely recognised as the world leader in character education. We have a co-educational community of over 500 students aged 6-18, who are predominantly full boarding and are drawn from over 40 countries.

We are looking to develop our catering and service offerings over the next 12 months, and an opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Catering Manager to support and deputise for the Catering Manager. This is a newly created role with fantastic opportunities for the right person.

As the Deputy Catering Manager, you will:

  • Oversee the daily operations of supervisors and catering assistant teams, ensuring that all guests receive a warm welcome and outstanding service.
  • Manage and supervise the supervising and catering assistant teams, including hiring, training, and scheduling.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked front of house area and food storage.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and food hygiene regulations.
  • Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures.
  • Collaborate with the Enterprise team to plan and execute events and promotions.
  • Gather and act on feedback to continually improve service.

Our award-winning chefs at the Refectory offer a diverse range of foods cooked on-site, and you will be entitled to free staff meals while on shift. You will receive free PVG status and have access to a staff discount scheme and cycle-to-work scheme. 

Role Details:

  • Hours: 37.5 hours per week, averaged out over a 12-month period, with every other weekend off.
  • Holidays: Seven weeks per year, including two full weeks off at Christmas.
  • Benefits: Free staff meals, free PVG status, staff discount scheme, cycle-to-work scheme.
  • Salary: Generous, performance-led salary scale with the potential to move up the levels.
